The app reads the name, set and collector number from the card itself. Holo cards that defeat other scanners still identify, because it falls back to reading the collector number when glare hides the artwork.

How much is my Pokémon card worth?
Scan the card and Card Catcher shows what it is selling for right now, using market data from TCGPlayer and Cardmarket. Value depends on the set, the card number, the finish and the condition, so two cards with the same artwork can be worth very different amounts.
Can Card Catcher scan holographic cards?
Yes. Holo and reverse-holo cards used to defeat camera scanning because glare hides the artwork. Card Catcher reads the collector number from the bottom of the card when the art is unreadable, so shiny cards still identify.
Which prices does Card Catcher use?
Both TCGPlayer and Cardmarket, and you can switch between them anywhere prices appear. TCGPlayer reflects the US market and Cardmarket reflects Europe, so the same card often carries two different prices.
Does it show price history?
Yes, over 30, 90 and 365 days on the Pro plan. History matters more than a single number, because it tells you whether today's price is a spike or a trend.
How do I tell if a Pokémon card is rare?
Check the rarity symbol next to the card number: a circle is common, a diamond is uncommon, a star is rare. Anything above that, like a Secret Rare, is numbered above the set total. Card Catcher shows the rarity and finish for every card it identifies.
Is Card Catcher free?
The app is free to download and includes three scans a day, three collections and card browsing. Pro adds live prices, unlimited scanning and price history charts.
Does it work offline?
Card identification works offline because the card library ships with the app. Prices need a connection, since they come from live market data.
Is this a grading or PSA tool?
No. Card Catcher prices raw cards as they are. It does not estimate a grade or predict what a card would score if you submitted it to PSA, BGS or CGC.
